Q1, Global semiconductor equipment sales 13%↓
Semiconductor Equipment and materials international(SEMI)has announced that global semiconductor equipment shipments in the first quarter of this year is 8.3 billion dollars, increased by 3% compared to the fourth quarter 2015, decreased by -13% compared to the first quarter 2015.
Global equipment orders fell 2% rather than the first quarter 2015, which is 94 billion dollars. Compared to the previous quarter, increased by 5%. In region, Korea, Japan, North America and Europe showed negative growth. Especially, Korea(-37%), Europe(-49%) showed most. However, China(39%) and Taiwan(2%) exhibited strong.
The industry believes that it’s influenced by contraction of D-RAM and modest investment. In Taiwan, investment in packaging led growth.
SEMI is to collect and report the data from 95 global equipment companies with Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan(SEAJ)
